As a Test Engineer, you will contribute to the development and testing of world-class audio and video production equipment. This dynamic role involves testing, diagnosing, repairing, and reporting on digital and analogue sub-assemblies and consoles, ensuring every product meets SSL's exacting customer specifications. The position requires a strong digital focus, with proficiency in analogue systems also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing — Test new sub-assemblies to demanding schedules while adhering to strict quality standards.
  • Repair — Diagnose and repair field returns in line with Service Level Agreements.
  • Development — Contribute to production test documentation and improve automated test solutions.
  • Analysis & Reporting — Analyse test results, generate detailed reports, and communicate findings and potential solutions to Production, QA and Engineering teams.
  • Record-Keeping — Maintain accurate records of test activities, ensuring compliance with reporting procedures.
  • Problem-Solving — Prioritise tasks effectively and apply logical analysis to complex problems.

Key qualifications and capabilities:

  • Strong understanding of digital electronics and analogue circuit theory.
  • Experience with PCB sub-assemblies — testing and repair.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor-based systems is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong SMT rework skills.
  • Experience or a keen interest in technology and audio mixing.
  • Familiarity with basic PC applications (Windows, Word, Excel/Google Sheets).
  • A graduate-level engineering background is beneficial, though not mandatory.
  • An interest or hobby in electronics, PC building, or IT networking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose analogue and digital audio processing circuitry.
