As a Systems Test Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the performance and reliability of our world-class digital audio consoles. This is a varied and dynamic role where no two days are the same – you'll test, diagnose, repair and report on digital audio consoles, working to SSL's high standards and meeting exacting customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing — Conduct thorough testing of new production digital audio consoles to stringent specifications and demanding schedules.
  • Analysis & Reporting — Analyse test results, produce detailed reports, and clearly communicate findings to Production Management, Quality Assurance and the Engineering team.
  • Documentation — Maintain accurate records of test activities in line with reporting procedures.
  • Problem-Solving — Diagnose issues to board level, carry out repairs, and work closely with the Engineering team to improve product quality and performance.

Key qualifications and capabilities:

  • Either an ONC/NVQ/HNC, or at least 1 year's proven experience in a similar technical role, or demonstrable strong hobbyist experience.
  • A high degree of practical, hands-on skill.
  • GCSE Grade C (or above) in Maths and English.
  • A strong level of technical competence with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to shift focus and direction quickly when required.
  • Basic PC application knowledge – Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Experience with PCB testing and/or SMT rework.
  • Strong knowledge of digital electronics, microprocessor-based systems, and electronic circuit theory.
  • Experience with audio systems, audio mixing, or other relevant technologies.
  • A keen interest in electronics, PC building and IT networking.
  • Proficiency with basic PC applications such as Windows, Word and Excel/Google Sheets.
