As a Junior Functional Test Engineer, you’ll play an active role in product validation programmes, ensuring our software releases and hardware products meet the highest standards. From day one, you’ll work directly with SSL technology and gain exposure across multiple engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn, execute, and support functional testing of both software and hardware elements across SSL products.
  • Analyse test results, create detailed test reports, and clearly communicate findings to engineering teams.
  • Contribute to product validation activities, including software release testing and hardware upgrade verification.
  • Ensure exceptional attention to detail so all products are robust, reliable, and aligned with customer expectations.
  • Develop and refine test methods, with opportunities to automate tasks and test routines.
  • Support production and service teams with system troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Engage in continuous improvement and actively grow your technical expertise within the functional test team.

Key qualifications and capabilities:

  • Degree in Engineering or similar; ideal candidates will have a mix of audio, electronics, and software expertise.
  • Strong interest in music, audio technology, mixing concepts, and industry audio standards.
  • Familiarity with major DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase/Nuendo, Ableton Live, or Studio One.
  • Practical electronics and mechanical skills.
  • Programming knowledge in languages such as C/C++, C#/.NET, JavaScript, or React.
  • Solid IT competence, including PC building and experience with operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking protocols is beneficial.
  • High technical competence and strong analytical/problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proactive, focused, self‑motivated, and comfortable working collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and break them down into core components.
  • Understanding of design specifications, testing strategies, and quality assurance principles.
  • Knowledge of risk analysis and best test practices is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and analyse issues logically.
