Reports to: Design and Production Support Team Leader

As part of the R&D team, you will play a key role in supporting both our design and production functions. This is a hands-on engineering position involving product validation, test development, and manufacturing support, with a strong focus on the design, construction, and continuous improvement of test solutions.
The role requires a practical and proactive engineer with strong problem-solving, organisational, and teamwork skills. We are looking for someone with either industrial experience or an academic background in electronics, software engineering, ideally with studies in music technology. This position would also suit a recent graduate or junior engineer looking to develop a career in product design, validation, and manufacturing support within the professional audio industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, build, and maintain test solutions for internal and external manufacturing.
- Develop software applications and scripts to support automated test solutions.
- Support manufacturing partners and production teams, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the design team, taking an active role in product validation and verification activities.
- Perform prototype PCB modifications, assembly work, and associated hardware development tasks.
- Support component obsolescence activities and general R&D engineering projects.
- Assist with fault-finding, debugging, and product investigations during development and production.
- Contribute to the development of engineering documentation, test procedures, and technical reports.
Key qualifications and capabilities:
- Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Music Technology, or a related discipline.
- Programming skills in C, C#, Python, or similar languages.
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
- Experience using laboratory and electronic test equipment.
- Practical PCB rework, wiring, soldering, and loom assembly skills.
- Strong analytical and fault-finding abilities.
- Good understanding of electronic systems and hardware development.
- Interest in audio technology, professional audio products, or music production.
- Previous experience within an electronics design or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with CAD and PCB layout tools.
- Mechanical assembly, fabrication, and metalworking experience.
- Knowledge of automated test systems and manufacturing processes.
- Practical and hands-on, with a methodical and tidy approach to work.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative team player who can also work independently when required.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Logical and structured approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to prioritise work and meet project deadlines.
