Summary of role
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, confident and customer-focused individual to join a world-leading manufacturer of professional audio products. SSL is looking for a Quality & Process Engineer to join our well-established Quality Department. Responsible for all quality elements of the manufacturing of products. The role is also responsible for the qualification and categorisation of customer experience concerns, liaising with the Manufacturing, Service & R&D teams to coordinate and deliver containment actions and robust long-term solutions.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the entirety of product quality, from supply, through the manufacturing processes and the end-user experience. Working in a small self-contained team, coordinating and delivering training ensuring long-term knowledge retention, conducting audits, product process reviews, and continuous improvement activity will be key. The individual will represent the manufacturing team in New Product Introduction processes ensuring a smooth R&D handover to full-scale production of new products. This is both in electronics hardware and software roles and candidates should be capable in both disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Support all UK production and testing functions
- Thorough investigation of quality issues reported both from customers and internally
- Playing an active part in continuous review and improvement of current practices
- Ensuring test equipment is well maintained and updated, ensuring regimes are stable and fit for purpose
- Monthly performance reporting and data analysis, continuous trend analysis
- Involvement in the introduction of new products from concept to manufacture
Key Qualifications and Experiences
- Data and trend analysis skills
- Strong electronics understanding. Audio industry exposure would be advantageous
- Programming skills in languages like C, C#, VB
- Ability to read electronic schematics. Experience of fault finding and use of general test equipment
- Previous experience in electronic manufacturing/design would be advantageous
- Working knowledge of Lean principles and tools
- Demonstrable successes in delivery to quality, time, and cost
