Matrix Console Software

Software Installation Notes:

This software update is packaged as a single .zip archive containing the following:

  • Matrix Software Update application (a Java archive file).
  • These instructions.

The file format of the Java archive is compatible with both PC and Macintosh (OS X only) platforms but PC users should ensure that they have the latest version (V5) of Java installed. This can be downloaded from www.java.com.

  1. Quit the Matrix Remote application if it is running.
  2. On a PC or Mac connected to the same network as your Matrix, run the downloaded file (the file will have a ‘.jar’ extension).
There may be a considerable pause (30 - 60 sec.) before the application appears.
  3. In the Matrix Update application, click on ‘Find’, ‘Find Matrix’ to search for your console on the network. If a serial number corresponding to your console appears in the list, click on that entry and click ‘Select’; if your console does not appear, re-check the network configuration.
  4. Check that the software version reported from your console matches the version that is running, then click on ‘Send’.
If the process stops after the ‘Compressing Data’ message, check that your computer and the Matrix have compatible IP addresses and subnet masks – refer to the ‘Configuration of Data Connections’ section of the Matrix Owner’s Manual or the on-line Matrix FAQs for guidance and trouble shooting.
  5. Once the software has been successfully sent, click on ‘Save’ to erase the old software and save the new code into the Flash RAM on the Matrix Processor.
  6. On completion of the save process, click on ‘Finish’ to quit the Matrix Update application.
  7. Turn the desk OFF, wait a short while and then switch back ON again. Check that the console boots correctly. Check that the software version matches the new version that you downloaded.

Matrix Remote software v1.0.2

Mac Software Notes:

In the .ZIP file you will find two programs to install. Install the program called Matrix Remote on the computer from which you intend to control Matrix, and install the program called ipMIDI on any computers which have a DAW installed which you intend to use with Matrix.

Mac System requirements:

Matrix Remote is a Java application which will run on both OSX 10.4 and OSX 10.5.

ipMIDI is compatible with both OSX 10.4 and OSX 10.5.

Installing the software:

Matrix Remote

  • Mount the MatrixRemote.dmg disk image and open it. Drag the enclosed Matrix Remote application to the Applications folder, then to the Dock or any other convenient location.

ipMIDI

  • Mount the ipMIDI.dmg disk image and open it. Double click on the ipMIDI.pkg file to run the installation program. Note that you will be asked to log out and in again once you have completed the installation. Once you have logged back in open Audio MIDI Setup and double click on the ipMIDI icon. Set the number of MIDI ports to 18 in the resulting pop-up.

Note that if you are upgrading an older copy of ipMIDI you must uninstall it before running the installer. To uninstall ipMIDI simply delete: “/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/ipMIDIDriver.bundle”. You should empty the Trash after deleting this file and before running the installer.

PC Software Notes:

Version 1.2.0 includes ipMIDI 1.7 which is compatible with Windows 7.

In the .ZIP file you will find two programs to install. Install the program called Matrix Remote on the computer from which you intend to control Matrix, and install the program called ipMIDI on any computers which have a DAW installed which you intend to use with Matrix.

PC System requirements:

Matrix Remote is a Java application. It runs under Java Version 5 or higher – the latest version can be download from www.java.com

ipMIDI is compatible with Windows 2000 (maximum 9 MIDI ports), XP and Vista and Windows 7.

Installing the software:

Matrix Remote

  • Copy the Matrix Remote.exe file to the Program Files folder (or any other convenient location) then create a shortcut to it on your desktop and/or task bar. Double clicking on this will launch the Matrix Remote program.

ipMIDI

  • Run the setupipmidi_1.5.1.exe application (note that the last part of the name may change depending on the version you are installing) by double clicking on it. Note that you will have to restart the computer at the end of the setup process. Once the computer has restarted right click on the ipMIDI icon in the task bar and set the number of MIDI ports to 18 in the resulting pop-up.

Note that if you are upgrading an older copy of ipMIDI you must uninstall it (using Add/Remove programs) before running the installer.
